Plot
One of Nancy’s best buddies, Bess Marvin, won a contest for a beach resort vacation and she’s invited you and her cousin George Fayne to come along. Nancy had to arrive a day late due to previous engagements, but once she lands on the island, she quickly learns that things have gone very wrong. George is panicking as she explains that Bess was kidnapped and that there is no one else on the tiny island, with no way to contact the police. The kidnappers have left instructions to find a long forgotten pirate treasure in exchange for Bess’s safe return. But as Nancy discovers that someone has been keeping a close eye one her, she wonders if that really is all they want? Its up to you as Nancy Drew, with help from longtime pal George, to save your friend before its too late.
Characters
Despite the lack of characters, it did give the game a more cryptic factor since it's supposed to be isolated. It was frustrating that George was pretty much useless, as she spent the majority of her time trying to fix a stupid radio and said things like "Ugh, sailing's not my thing, good luck with that" or "you can always become a trash collector if detective work doesn't pan out" when you tried to talk to her. Not helpful.
Setting/Graphics
What can I say here? The graphics continue to improve with each game. I liked the design and the layout. Everything was life-like and pretty, just not enough exploration.
Difficulty/Length
The puzzles are some of the best in the series. One of my personal favorites is the cryptograms – such a simple concept, yet so much fun. There’s a large variety of types of puzzles, mostly new concepts, and they’re very challenging overall.
"Scare Factor"
This game is set on a sunny island, so there is nothing to be scared about.
Final Verdict
There was a lot of third person view in this game, which was more than a little annoying. We’re supposed to be Nancy Drew, but in this game we’re only her for half of the time, really. Other than that, I thought the game was challenging and a lot of fun.
